Exploring was such a huge part of his life that 409 almost began to speculate on how much there really was left to explore on the island. Word had gotten out that a new land had burst through the ash to the West of where he was now, but 409 amazingly was quite reluctant to seek it out considering his sociable nature. Perhaps it would be nothing but a waste of time. If it just arose from the volcanic ashes then there surely was no life there, right? No reason to go.
Snow wasn't abnormal for this particular section of the island. What was abnormal was just how much there was. 409 found the old trail he had followed countless times was completely covered in the snow and that trekking along where he thought it used to be took three times the amount of energy and time as usual. There were sections that allowed travel to be much easier, the white sticky substance only reached a fraction of the height as what he stood in right at this moment. The smart thing to do would be to direct himself towards the lighter drifts, but how interesting would that really be? Every animal would be using those trails, there would be nothing new for him to see that something else hadn't already a thousand times.
A smirk creased the left side of his face as he spotted exactly what he was looking for. With the ash gone now, the view would be something heard only in tales from the peak he was not heading towards. Upon cresting it, a rush of wind nearly swept him off the ground. He adjusted his balance and allowed the breeze to whip through his long pelt. If he could cry, this would be a moment the tears would start filling his orbs. The sight wasn't what he expected, no, it was far more appealing. Staring out towards the west, 409s eyes strained to see further than he knew he really could, trying to spot this new land that had emerged. He stood there, perfectly still, staring for quite a long time before a defeated sigh escaped his maw and his eyes fell downward, scanning the ground below the peak he now stood upon.
It took little to no time to spot the movements and his eyes strained once again to determine exactly what it was. A smile formed on his face the recollection that the moving figure was indeed another canine passed through his ever moving mind. Turning around, he silently moved down the cliff for further investigations.

The cascade of contrasting thoughts that were constantly flooding her head and twisting her gut were beginning to calm. One mind was winning the seemingly never ending battle for greatness. Each personality viewed greatness in a completely different manner, power versus kindness. Friendship was unimportant to one while revenge was the number one goal, the opposite true for the original residence within that leanly muscled body. Did evil always prevail? It seemed that way in Latte's world. Never had she been truly able to escape the horrors in her life.
The young pitbull focused only on her thoughts and the meaning behind them and allowed her body to simply go. Limbs chugged through the snow drifts, one after the other marching up the face of the hill. Leg muscles strained to lift them high enough to gain some forward momentum. Tall ears laid back against her skull as she maneuvered the mounds of frozen particles, the ebony of her coat standing out against the pureness beneath her feet. If she had been in her right mind never would she have traveled so far north. She barely had a coat for protection compared to some of the other canines inhabiting the island. Was she here as a suicide? What was this monster making her do? Hind sinews pushed her frame up upon a ledge that had some protection from snowfall, yet was coated in a thick layer of crunchy ice. Ebony claws dug deep into the frozen water below attempting to keep her from slipping to her demise. There she stood statuesque in appearance, the only movement was her over sized auds flapping to the left as the strong gusts of wind threatened to push her over the edge.
As she stood, orbs locked upon the thick clouds floating freely within the atmosphere, a sudden sharp pain stabbed mercilessly at the side of her broad skull. Shades closed tightly and the right side of her maw curled into a pained wince. Slowly optics reappeared, shifting toward the side and slightly above. Nothing was visible, yet instinctively she knew something or somebody was there with her. And it was no mistake that they were both in the same place at the same time.

Making his way down the side of the mountain, the only thing that gave away his position was the black on his pelt. Occasionally, he needed to stop himself before his own momentum forced him to tumble down the side of the steep incline. He could no longer see the canine he was seeking out, but this didn't bother him much. She would be easy to track if she went off in another direction.
Finally reaching the area where he saw her, a more level portion of the mountain, the black and white border collie paused for a moment and took in his surroundings, breathing in deeply with that ever present smile plastered upon his maw. Lids were slightly covering dark brown orbs, suggesting a peaceful and pleasurable mind. After giving himself a moment to take it all in, 409 set off in the direction that she should have been.
When he rounded a corner, he spotted her and the smile quickly grew upon his maw, his movements quickening slightly from the excitement. He knew this fae, she was a part of his very own pack. The brute tried to get to know all of his mates as well as possible. Learning their desires and secrets. However, he had not gotten much information from Latte. Perhaps she had trust issues or some other form of mental problem brought on by her time in the labs. Which was understandable.
When he was in earshot of her, when he knew his voice would be heard over the increasing bitter wind, he called out to her. His voice was raised, but there was still a hint of lazy hidden underneath. "Hello Latte! What brings you all the way out here, dear? You'll catch your death." Genuine worry spread across his features as he made the final steps to her. He brought his body close to hers. With his thick pelt, he would be able to withstand the colder conditions far longer than she would. He pressed his side up against hers, allowing her to use his body warmth.

The tell tale crunch as the hardened snow sheet was cracked and compacted under the weight of one's body was the first sign that some dog was indeed approaching. If they had the ability, oversized auds would have swiveled to investigate the noise, yet the strong winds held them chained against her skull. A broad head shifted upon a well muscled neck instead to greet the approaching animal, eyes instinctively lighting at the sight of none other than 409. A long, black tipped whip cord shifted left to right three times in a friendly greeting although his appearance caused a myriad of feelings within the pitbull. Hidden behind a calm, and completely friendly facade the typical Latte grin was offered. Her maw split with a tongue peeking out just over enamels giving the fae a young, puppish look.
Before any response could be mustered to his worried lyrics his thick pelt was pushed up against one of her sides. It was only then did she realize just how cold she truly was. Muscles were stiff and shimmying under her hide in an attempt to generate her own heat. But now a wave of warmth rushed fluidly through her entirety, unintentionally forcing the fae to push closer into his side, welcoming the stray tufts of fur that found themselves draping over her back. Part of Latte was grateful that the pack's healer had found her acquaintance here upon the cliff, while another half urged her to leave his side immediately. She had always avoided the border collie at all costs. Silently she watched his magical powers tempt others into a a euphoric mind state. It seemed like such an amazing feeling, yet it frightened Latte. Would such feelings allow the beast within a chance to run rampant? Would it break down those walls of brick and mortar that she had so carefully built and maintained for so long?
The sinews that had relaxed with his presence had now stiffened once again in worry of what socializing with the fantastical male would bring. Yet she didn't make any attempt to leave his side. Her voice was found after what seemed much too long, and it cracked slightly as she began to answer his questioning, "Good day, 409. It's a pleasure to find you here!" She paused momentarily as she wondered exactly why she was here as well. What was the reason, what was the monster's plan? Shoulder blades rose and fell in a canid shrug as a burst of air pushed from her nares in the form of a snort, "Honestly, I'm not quite sure why I decided to come up here. The view? Maybe some adventure?" A little giggle backed up her own questioning attempting to pass it off as some sort of amusement.
